STATEMENT, COMMISSIONS & INFORMATION

My current work is simply about humanity.

I would like my work to resonate in people.

To remind us of our connection to others.

Drawing from her experience as a womenswear designer in NYC and her love of painting and portraiture, Bridgman is currently working on life-size fashion portraits in oil.

OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS:

Portrait commissions involve a photo session with the subject and discussion of size. Live session are possible in certain circumstances. Travel expenses need to be paid if outside the NY Metropolitan Area.

50% of total commission paid before proceeding. Balance upon completion.

BIO:

Bridgman studied with Barkley Hendricks at Connecticut College and Leonid Gervits at the Art Students League.

Simple Bio:

Mary Bridgman was born in Waterville, Maine and earned degrees from Connecticut College and the Parsons School of Design in New York City. She continued her studies at The Art Students League, The New York Academy of Art, and The School of Visual Arts.

Bridgman's work draws upon a broad range of cultural influences from Renaissance Paintings to Modern approaches to traditional subject matter employing painting, drawing and photography. Favored mediums are Oil on Linen and Gouache with pencil.

Her work has been included in exhibitions in New York City, The Hudson Valley, Kentucky, Virginia, Colorado, and Florida, including The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, The International Museum of the Horse, where she a recipient of the Museum Director's Award, The Centennial Exhibition of The Masters Foxhounds of America, as well as, HOAST Harlem and the Harlem Art Walking Tour.

Bridgman was a freelance Womenswear Designer, and has worked in the Fashion industry for companies including Ralph Lauren and Ellen Tracy by Linda Allard.

She is, also, a Fashion Illustrator, with clients including Polo Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Worth by Design, and Anne Taylor. Bridgman is on the Fashion Design faculty at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Marist College. She also taught in the Fashion School at the Parsons School of Design under Tim Gunn.

Bridgman has traveled extensively, often on horseback. Destinations include Mongolia, India, Oman, Jordan, Israel, South, Central and North Africa, South America, French Polynesia and the Marquesas and Europe which has inspired a lot of work.

Bridgman is living and painting in the Hudson Valley
