New Black and White Paintings

In my oil portraits, I explore identity and self-expression by tracing the enduring conversation between fashion and art history. Fashion has long served as a visual marker of status, culture, and personality in portraiture—communicating not only the subject’s individuality, but also the social and political landscapes of their time. By drawing from traditional painting techniques, I situate my work within this lineage, honoring the craftsmanship of the past while engaging with the complexities of the present. With direct and indirect approaches to painting I am able to build depth, luminosity, and texture in my work, capturing both the physical and emotional layers of my subjects.

This Series has been on my mind since I went the Parsons School of Design. I worked as a womenswear designer for over 30 years and kept the painting going simultaneously. This work is a nature progression for me.

Portraits of Fashion, the series are around $6000 for 80” x 46”

Prices for commissioned portraits of this size are around $10,000

Expect the painting process to take six to twelve months

Portrait commissions involve a photo session with the subject and discussion of size as well as garments, color and accessories . Live painting/sketch sessions are possible in certain circumstances. Travel expenses outside the NY Metropolitan Area added.

50% of total commission collected before proceeding. Balance upon completion.
